The Central Medical Records department is currently looking for a new member to their team as a Medical Legal Information Specialist. Description: Medical Legal Information Specialist Coordinates the timely response to Continuing Care requestors and serves as a Resource for the release of patient information while assuring patient confidentiality is protected. The specialist; coordinates timely response to all requests for patient information as required by HIPAA rules and regulations. Process ROI Requests Demonstrates working knowledge of the legal requirements for responding to subpoenas for health information. Demonstrates proficiency in use of all computer software systems required for Release of Information. * Experience with Health Information Management (HIM) is required*. * (Job training with HIPAA and familiarity with electronic health records processing) Is required*. Requirements Experience: Medical Records, Clinical, medical or health care billing, physician office release of information, paralegal, radiology film library experience. At least 3 years relevant work experience in any of these settings or recent graduate of accredited Health Information Technology program. Experience with electronic health record processing. Education: Associate's Degree or in lieu of a degree 3 years of relevant HIM work experience. Training: HIPAA, Medical Terminology Medical Terminology; On the Job Training with HIPAA and familiarity with electronic health record processing. Special Skills: Computer skills, Customer Services work history Working knowledge of MS Office applications Attention to detail Organizational skills.SDL2017
