Provides quality education and maintains high standards of academic excellence in teaching assigned courses in discipline. Conducts student advising, tutoring and office hours as assigned. * Actively participates in curriculum development and implementation of nursing programs for Strayer with School Dean. * Participates in program governance, including the development, implementation, and revision of nursing program policies. * Attends faculty meetings and assists the School Dean in evaluating course and program objectives; recommends curricula changes. * Attends and participates in Nursing Advisory Board Meetings. * Actively participates in programmatic accreditation pursuits (e.g., CCNE), operates in accordance with established accreditation standards, and assists in maintenance of such accreditation. * Teaches four (4) courses as assigned in discipline, for each of the Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters. * Provides eight hours of academic student services per week, which may be divided between advising, tutoring, and/or office hours, as deemed necessary by the School Dean. * Maintains accurate records of student progress. * Collaborate in data collection and analysis to continuously improve course effectiveness, instruction, and maintain programmatic assessment/benchmarks. * Develop external relationships with preceptors and partnership facilities to ensure student clinical activities meet developed guidelines and are appropriately assessed in compliance with internal and external regulatory standards. * Actively collaborates and communicates with clinical preceptors to ensure optimal student clinical experiences and in evaluating students' achievement of learning outcomes (as required, based on courses taught). * Adopt innovative teaching methods in designated discipline in accordance with evidence-based educational practice. * Actively participates in one of the standing committees and/or one of the student activities (clubs) throughout the academic year. * Participates in faculty workshops and official college ceremonies such as the annual commencement convocation; Attends and participates in internal and external professional development activities. * Participates in academic advising of students to include contacting students to assist them with registration, selection of classes and/or major and career options; * Participates in early registration activities (retention; degree completion) * Promptly communicates concerns/issues affecting student academic performance to the Nursing Student Success Coach and/or the School of Nursing Dean/ Assistant Dean in a timely manner * Participates in professional development organizations and activities related to teaching, scholarship, service, and clinical practice * Other duties as assigned. Education: * MSN from a programmatically accredited (CCNE/ACEN) university with emphasis in education preferred, and * Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited university to be completed within 7 years (PhD, EdD, or DNP in Nursing, Education, or Administration) Work Experience: * Minimum of three years in higher education teaching experience and/or online teaching experience and coursework development or analogous experience working with adult learners (e.g., Hospital Education or corporate training) * Minimum of five years' clinical nursing experience, preferably in diverse care settings * Experience with CCNE or ACEN accreditation preferred * Experience with curriculum development or subject matter expert work for nursing courses preferred Job Skills: * Understanding of adult learning, basic instructional design, learning management systems, and assessment * Utilization of evidence-based practice nursing educational techniques and pedagogy (e.g., concept-based pedagogy, active-learning strategies) * Ability to apply knowledge regarding The Baccalaureate Essentials and QSEN Core Competencies * Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and make decisions with minimal supervision * Detail oriented and organized * Ability to analyze and synthesize information, solve problems, and make sound decisions * Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) * Experience with how to deliver feedback to others in a constructive manner that drives results * Must have strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) * Excellent oral and written communication skills * Ability to adapt to and embrace continuous change * Strategic thinker Certificates, licenses and registrations: * Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license * Must be eligible to obtain licensure in any state * Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) preferred Physical and Mental Demands: * Virtual/Online Position * Must be able to travelSDL2017
