# Requisition ID: _212261_ # Job Summary: Global Engineering, Procurement and Construction company seeks an experienced Paralegal/Legal Assistant for its in-house Legal department in Reston, VA. The Paralegal/Legal Assistant will provide support to attorneys in the Corporate Legal department. Working as a member of the department for Bechtel, this individual will provide support for a wide range of transactions. # Responsibilities and Duties: + Accepting, tracking, and distributing legal documents received via service of process + Working with in-house counsel, internal departments, and outside counsel to manage the timely response to subpoenas, discovery, and other requests for information + Supporting the legal holds administrator on key aspects of the preservation holds process including: working with attorneys to draft preservation hold notices; issuing preservation hold notices through software tool; tracking responses to preservation hold notices; responding to questions regarding preservation holds; and drafting and issuing of notices releasing preservation holds + Co-administering the legal department process for review of paper records scheduled for destruction at the end of their required business retention period + Maintaining litigation and claims databases and preparing reports + Preparing, managing, and updating outside counsel budgets + Conducting internal searches for paper and electronic records, and coordinating and communicating with records managers to identify records potentially responsive to discovery + Tracking, organizing and filing of legal documents, legal advice, presentations and correspondence + Assistance in performing due diligence on potential consultants and experts + Communicating with senior management, internal/external customers and other members of the legal department + Performing web-based research tasks, including location and review of relevant public records, regulations, and statutes + Aiding other parts of legal, risk management, and ethics and compliance departments + Other duties as assigned # Basic Qualifications: + B.A. or B.S. degree + Minimum of 10 years? experience in a law firm or corporate legal department, in litigation support # Preferred Qualifications: + Strong organizational skills, initiative and attention to detail + Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint + Ability to handle confidential information and communications in a secure manner + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to work well within a team + Ability to deal with multiple assignments, to prioritize, and to progress assignments without constant oversight + Experience accessing, managing, querying, and updating databases + Experience in the engineering and construction or related business fields **_Shaping tomorrow together_** **_Bechtel_** **_is among the most respected engineering, project management, and construction companies in the world.
