Job Description\: ICF Internationalâs Education, Community & Social Programs Division provides federal, State, and other clients with a wide range of technical assistance, research and evaluation services. Our work focuses on important policy issues; uses proven and innovative methods for delivering high quality, timely evaluation and technical assistance; seeks to inform stakeholders of best practices; and involves working closely with clients to ensure that evaluation and training and technical assistance support services are relevant, useful, and make a difference. We are currently seeking a Research Assistant to work within our Education, Community & Social Programs Division in Fairfax, VA. Primary responsibilities for this position will involve supporting project managers on a national evaluation of a youth substance abuse prevention program, while potentially supporting a range of education projects on topics such as college and career readiness and reading achievement. As a Research Assistant, you will apply your academic knowledge, gain exposure to major projects on substance abuse prevention and the improvement of local education systems, and interact with a variety of experts in the field. Research Assistants will contribute to the development of innovative, high quality products and services in support of multiple projects within the division. Research Assistants at ICF often advance in our consulting practice or enroll in outstanding graduate programs around the country. The position is full-time and based at ICFâs offices in Fairfax, Virginia. Candidates must be able to work on multiple tasks with competing deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail required. Candidates who are new college graduates and who completed a senior thesis are a likely good fit. Key Responsibilities\: Primary responsibilities for the Research Assistant include\: * Supporting evaluation (research) activities, including data collection, data entry, instrument development and assisting with conducting site visits * Supporting training and technical assistance activities related to providing evaluation data * Help desk and webinar support * Assisting in developing and preparing written web products, training materials, substance briefs, evaluation reports, site visit reports, or other deliverables * Supporting data collection and analysis activities * Assisting with meeting tasks such as note taking to document key decisions Qualification: Basic Qualifications\: * Bachelorâs degree in Education, Psychology or other Social Sciences, or related discipline required with a minimum GPA of 3.0 * Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products\: Word, Excel, PowerPoint * Interest in key topics in community and education reform, including substance abuse prevention, community coalition building, teacher effectiveness, college and career readiness, dropout prevention, and standards and assessment * Understanding of introductory statistics, with prior experience using statistical software packages (SPSS, SAS) preferred Professional Skills * Excellent verbal, oral, interpersonal and written communication skills * Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities * Ability to be flexible, multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, changing environment * Strong team player with the ability to both collaborate and to take initiative and work well independently * Superior attention to detail and the ability to meet stringent deadlines ICF offers an excellent benefits package, an award winning talent development program, and fosters a highly skilled, energized and empowered workforce.
