Our mission is to partner with the global education community to enable student and institutional success by leveraging innovative technologies and services.Blackboards Strategic Communications team is responsible for the strategy, management, and execution of Blackboards public relations, media and analyst relations, corporate communications, internal communications, and social media efforts. Working with leaders across the company, as well as members of Blackboards partner and customer communities, the fast-paced Strategic Communications team works to enhance and expand awareness of the company in the education and technology communities.As Senior PR Manager, your specific responsibilities will include:Working collaboratively with the communications team to promote greater awareness and media coverage of BlackboardUtilizing media monitoring service to track daily media coverage and develop monthly reports for leadershipConducting research to support PR activities and projects including media pitches and proposals for op-eds, blogs, and paid contentWriting and editing communications materials including talking points, press releases, blogs, social media posts, and other external communicationsDeveloping a coordinated, enterprise-wide social media strategy that ensures guidance, management, and performance of companys official social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)Developing/executing plans for social support of company and industry eventsOverseeing social media measurement including the design and operation of relevant dashboards and reportsPreparing executives for media inquiries and providing coaching as neededServing as a liaison with representatives across the company as well as customers, partners, and industry leaders to develop communications materialsServing as a liaison with media on routine inquiriesIdentifying relevant industry awards and working collaboratively with marketing leads to craft nominationsThe Candidate:Has a bachelors degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related fieldHas 8+ years of public relations/communications/journalism experienceHas excellent oral and written communication skillsHas experience developing relationships with mediaHas a strong track record of successful story pitching to trade, business, and mainstream pressHas strong word processing, spreadsheet, and PowerPoint skillsHas experience managing social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.)Can juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlinesHas strong interpersonal, proofreading/editing, and time management skillsHas a flexible mindset and can work both independently and in a team environmentExperience working with education trade publications is preferredExperience with media tracking systems is a plus (Vocus, TrendKite, Meltwater, etc.)The Team & Office:Blackboard has an office in the vibrant Plaza America in Reston, VA.Countless walkable places to eat lunch or dinner within the plaza including Grill Kabob, Mod Pizza, Brown Bag, and The Melting PotFree drinks in the officeHalf a mile from Reston Town CenterAccessible via Metro - Wiehle-Reston East- Silver line (approx. 1 mile from office)This job description is not designed to contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required.
